1. Permanent Housing for Karachi orphanage
The Sirat-ul-Jannah Karachi orphanage offers residential housing for over 109 kids. The orphanage is currently on rented property with little infrastructure, and depends wholly on public donations for its operations. The expenses go mainly toward rent, utilities, clothing, fuel, food, education and medical bills.
It is a big hassle being asked to move and is a major setback in providing for the children. For small residential organizations to survive over time we need to have spent much effort and resources over the last 5 years to make the accommodation comfortable for the children.
We really need a permanent building, with our limited sources, we require some more sponsors to assist us in this mighty effort to admit more and more poor and needy children in this area. We hope that with financial help we will not only be able to improve the orphanage but one day we will be able to build the orphanage on its own land.
2. Van for orphanage
We have been literally wearing out the two vans that Sirat-ul-Jannah Karachi owns and our third vehicle (a 20 year old van) has needed huge amount in repairs, over the last 12 months and continues to break down! We are DESPERATELY in need of a new van. With three vans, we could actually take ALL the children to school or on an outing at one time... something currently impossible because of our third vehicle situation.
3. Computer Lab
The Sirat-ul-Jannah Karachi Need a Computer Lab, which is quite essential in the present times. The Sirat-ul-Jannah Karachi wants to set up a modern Computer Lab that would enable students to equip with required technical skills in order to compete in the future.
A computer lab in orphanages so that the children living here can have access to great literature, encyclopedias, historical information and other endless topics they usually miss out on. With computers, they will have a chance to become computer literate and learn valuable skills.
Secondly, computers create opportunities for them in today's job market where more basic computer knowledge can also fetch you a job. Making orphan children computer literate will mean making them competent and better suited for today's job market. This also improves the prospects of getting into a better job for these children. Lack of basic computer skills can certainly be looked upon as a hindrance to an individual's development, just imagine a day without computer and you will realize how important the role of computer has become in day to day life.
Lab Maintenance / responsibilities
A Software Development Company GTX Network will provide all the technical assistance for setting up the lab, ensuring proper usage and maintenance of the equipment and providing instructors for the courses. A full time instructor should be appointed by the GTX Network for this computer lab giving them a proper training and preparing them for a certificate exam seems a reasonable way of imparting the basic skills. This will ensure that they will pass government recognized information technology exams and will get certificates which are valued by employers.
